Referrals

Referral to The Fatigue Clinic will usually be via your General Practitioner. Please feel free to print the information from this website and take it to your GP so that they will be familiar with the service we offer. To allow the most efficient use of your time at the Fatigue Clinic, please ask your GP to arrange the following tests for you and send the results in advance of your appointment:

Our staff are recognised as providers of private medical services by the major insurers, including BUPA, Axa-PPP, Standard Life, Vitality and many others.

Video consultations, whether new or follow up, must be paid for in advance unless you have private medical insurance.  If you have private medical insurance, we would advise you to contact your insurer for pre-authorisation before booking your appointment, so that you are clear about the extent of cover provided. Insured patients remain liable for the stated fee in the event of any shortfall.

Paediatric ME/CFS

As adult-trained clinicians, we regret that we are unable to offer our treatment to children under 16 with ME/CFS.

Scope of Service

Our service is open by video consultation to any adult over the age of 16, be they mildly, moderately or severely affected. We are happy to advise new patients early in their fatigue experience, or those with longstanding ME/CFS looking for an updated opinion, or support or advice on issues such as access to "reasonable adjustments", to benefits or ill-health retirement.

NHS referrals

We regret that under the current service model, there is no provision for NHS treatment of CFS/ME sufferers at our unit.

Contact

Referral should ideally be made by a medical practitioner to Dr Coakley via Anne Hillman .  Dr Coakley is willing to see patients who self-refer but is obliged by GMC guidance to inform GPs of the outcome of the consultation.
