The initial assessment is by a consultant physician experienced in
the management of CFS/ME, who conducts a thorough medical history and examination, and
appropriate blood tests to ensure there is no other likely cause of fatigue.
Possible treatments include guided self-help, drug therapy,
graded exercise, and a psychological assessment regarding suitability for approaches based
on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
Your initial assessment will take up to 60 minutes, and if investigations
have not already been carried out, you will have blood tests nearby at London Bridge Hospital.
You will have the opportunity to discuss further treatment options.
There is no obligation for you to have any form of treatment with which
you are not happy, and you are free to withdraw from treatment at any time.
There will usually be a final medical assessment after treatment has been completed.
